Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 14, 2026
At NitroCam, your privacy is our primary concern. We believe that your camera and microphone data are yours alone. Our software is designed from the ground up to ensure that your media never touches our servers.
1. The NitroCam Privacy Guarantee
NitroCam operates as a local-first utility. Unlike cloud-based solutions, NitroCam creates a direct, encrypted link between your mobile device and your desktop computer.
- No video/audio tracking: We do not—and cannot—see, hear, or record your stream. All media processing happens locally on your hardware.
- No account required: You do not need to create an account to use NitroCam. We do not collect your name, email address, or personal identity.
- No data harvesting: We do not sell your data to third parties. Our business model is built on providing high-quality software, not selling user information.
2. Information We Handle
Real-time media (camera and microphone)
- Purpose: To transform your phone into a webcam.
- Handling: Video and audio are hardware-encoded on your phone and sent directly to your desktop over your local Wi-Fi or USB connection.
- Storage: No media is stored by the app. If you use the Record feature, the resulting file is saved directly to your device's local storage.
Connection metadata
- Local IPs: To establish a peer-to-peer connection, the apps exchange local network addresses. This data is never transmitted to us.
- Discovery (mDNS): We use standard protocols (Bonjour/Zeroconf) to help your computer find your phone on the network automatically.
Anonymous crash reporting (Pro feature)
If enabled, we may receive anonymized crash logs to help us fix bugs. These logs contain technical details about the crash but never include images, audio, or personal data.
3. Payments and Subscriptions
NitroCam Pro features are managed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. We do not see your credit card information. We only receive confirmation from the app store that a purchase was successful to unlock Pro features.
4. Third-Party Services
STUN servers: We use public STUN servers (provided by Google) to help establish the WebRTC connection. They see your IP address to coordinate the peer-to-peer link but have no access to the content of the stream.
5. Your Controls
- Permissions: You can revoke Camera, Microphone, or Local Network access at any time via your device settings.
- Data deletion: Since we don't store your data on our servers, deleting the app removes all local settings and metadata from your devices.
