Getting started

Install NitroCam on your Mac and the NitroCam app on your phone.
Open both apps on the same Wi-Fi network, then scan the QR code shown on your Mac — or enter the 6-digit pairing code. Prefer wired? Connect a USB cable and tap Begin USB Connection.
When prompted, install the virtual camera. Your phone now appears as NitroCam in the camera picker of Zoom, OBS, FaceTime, and other apps.

Troubleshooting

Virtual camera not showing in Zoom / OBS

Make sure the camera system extension is installed and active: open NitroCam → Settings → Virtual Camera and check the status. If it reads Inactive, click Install and approve the system prompt. macOS may ask you to allow the extension in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Camera feed frozen or stuck

The macOS camera assistant can occasionally get stuck. Open Terminal and restart it with: sudo killall VDCAssistant — then reselect NitroCam in your video app.

USB connection problems

iPhone: Unlock the phone and tap Trust when asked. Try a different cable or port — charge-only cables won't work.
Android: Enable USB debugging in Developer Options and accept the authorization prompt on the phone.

Phone and Mac can't find each other over Wi-Fi

Confirm both devices are on the same network — guest networks and VPNs often block local discovery.
Allow NitroCam local network access on the phone (Settings → Privacy → Local Network).
If discovery still fails, use the 6-digit pairing code or a USB cable instead.

Checking the extension status manually

Advanced users can verify the system extension registration in Terminal with: systemextensionsctl list

Does NitroCam send my video to the cloud?

No. Video travels directly from your phone to your Mac over your local network or USB cable. See our Privacy Policy.

What quality can I stream at?

Up to 4K at up to 60 fps, adjustable live from the dashboard while you're on a call.
