NitroCam

Support

Setup help and fixes for the most common issues.

Getting started

  1. Install NitroCam on your Mac and the NitroCam app on your phone.
  2. Open both apps on the same Wi-Fi network, then scan the QR code shown on your Mac — or enter the 6-digit pairing code. Prefer wired? Connect a USB cable and tap Begin USB Connection.
  3. When prompted, install the virtual camera. Your phone now appears as NitroCam in the camera picker of Zoom, OBS, FaceTime, and other apps.

Troubleshooting

Virtual camera not showing in Zoom / OBS

Make sure the camera system extension is installed and active: open NitroCam → Settings → Virtual Camera and check the status. If it reads Inactive, click Install and approve the system prompt. macOS may ask you to allow the extension in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Camera feed frozen or stuck

The macOS camera assistant can occasionally get stuck. Open Terminal and restart it with: sudo killall VDCAssistant — then reselect NitroCam in your video app.

USB connection problems

Phone and Mac can't find each other over Wi-Fi

Checking the extension status manually

Advanced users can verify the system extension registration in Terminal with: systemextensionsctl list
